TRAJAN

Æ Sestertius (29.24gm) Rome, 105-107 A.D.

Laureate bust of Trajan right, drapery on far shoulder / Danube Bridge. RIC 569.

Very Rare. Trajan's construction of a bridge crossing the Danube was an important feat of Roman engineering. The coins commemorating this achievement do not depict the great bridge realistically, but rather symbolize it with a picturesque image that may represent one of its many spans. Lovely green patina. Carefully cleaned, preserving a bold and complete view of the reverse type.
